Hello, forum!
While I was dealing with a transmission speed sensor problem, today I noticed something else.
I have never seen this line before; but when I start the car this morning and get out of my parking lot, I noticed this oil drop line.
this line is coming from the passenger side underbody.

I used a tissue to check the color and it was black, which is a high chance of engine oil or else.
I already noticed that when I start the car, engine oil leaks from the valve cover gasket and drops to the exhaust, causing smoke.
This is underbody, and I was unsure if that is dropping from the rear main or a very leaky valve cover gasket.

I think the undercover collects oil and drops when I start to move because the mechanics said they didn't see drops while working on my car.
But I am unsure about the exact oil leak locations because there's a long oil line from the front jack port.
I don't expect much to seals since this car is a 71000 mi California-kept 16-year-old car.
I'm doing a 3000mi oil change and I never had a low oil warning before.
Since the valve cover leaks pretty intensive- which makes smoke, so I'm thinking should I try replacing the VCG first and wipe it to see the exact location.
Currently, I'm short on money for RMS replacement since I had problems with the transmission.

do you think this is a pretty big issue and I need to replace the seal asap?

My opinion , don't even think about replacing the RMS until you have eliminated all other sources .
If your VC is causing leaks and smoke , that is probably the source of the oil down low.
If after that it looked like oil from the RMS , I would then use some Liqui Moly engine oil resealer first , and then re-assess.
In many cases you are better off living with a small leak , than having it repaired.

Thanks for the tips.
Is this the thing you mentioned? Motor Oil Saver (300ml Can) - Liqui Moly LM2020

Turn key to ignition but do not start , then you should be able to turn the steering wheel except you will have no power assistance so it takes more effort to turn.

What engine? (put your car model and year in your profile and we'd know) If it's the M272 or M273, the camshaft plugs on the back of the left head are known to leak, and so is the oil centrifuge on the back of the right head.

Sadly it is 06 CLK500 so M113 which is well known for rms leak.
