For that color, you'll have to wash the car everyday to keep it clean.

Check the value at edmunds.com, and I think you will find the "asking price" spot on the the private party selling price for this car - that is one thing to the good.

The BEST thing you can do, is put your personal expereince on E55 to the side for the moment, and find a retutable indie that can check the car out for you.

Sure - the asking price is $1500 or so less than what it nornammyl would be - not trusting any dealer to give you a straight answer on why they have chosen to be "agressive" with the car (unless they have another lower mileage E55 on hand) - a PPI is the ONLY way to find out if you should make the investment or not.

My personal experience with a E55 makes me sharper about the condition of the car as compared to a non-owner - but nowhere near replaces a 2hr-3hr PPI by a experienced MB indie.

Best $250 or so ever spent - especially prudent for buying the right car for you at the right retail selling price.

Personal comment, I don't like Illinois cars, too much salt and like Michigan too many pot holes.

Keep the beat !

Thanks for the input, I agree about the salt and bad roads. I'm still thinking and looking at other cars, I had found a very nice C43 @ a benz dealer in California, but the car has been sold.

1999 Used Mercedes-Benz E-Class E55 4dr Sdn 5.4L AMG at Highline Motor Cars in Downers Grove, IL, IID 6226569

I already have a 2000 E55 and was thinking of buying this one for my dad.

It has high miles, but assuming its been serviced it should be fine for another 50k miles.

My thinking is to buy this for $7k and do a major tune up, spend up to 3-4 grand.

Thoughts?
Burl wood looks bad for some reason.

I am interested in selling mine and all the tuneup and known problems have all been fixed. Just turned over 100k miles. NEW tires. Same 2 tone interior and black exterior. Send me a Pm if interested.

I could cope with washing it a lot.....I prefer that to my silver one...Of all the ones I've seen in the UK they've all been silver except two.
