You'll find lots of info here and over at sl107.com

Do searches in both forums - get some general education by "lurking" (read a lot of postings) then start asking us questions as you get closer to the big day.

When you spot one you think you want, STOP! More than likely your heart will start running off with your wallet! Ask lots of questions, return to a rational state of mind, then buy it!

Right now is the golden opportunity time to buy 107s. They aren't quite old enough to be "vintage" and they aren't new enough for the mass market anymore, so there are a lot of good deals out there. They best advice on any MB is to find a car with a documented history. If the owner has let a lot of things slide, you will regret it later. One other thing I always tried to guage was whether the seller was infected with the pride-of-ownership fanaticism that is the true mark of a serious MB owner. If the car looks like it gets waxed three times a week and the guy has a stack of receipts, buy it. As always, make sure a mechanic checks it out first, one who specializes in MBs. Gas mileage wise, on a 560SL forget it, they are notorious gas hogs, actually all the V-8 SLs are. They were sold to a market that was not exactly gas mileage concious. If your looking for gas mileage, the 280SL made for the European market is the big winner.
