I've been reading a few posts on this site and getting info on the car... Just want to ask a few questions before I go check the car out tomorrow.

It's an '02 with 117,000 miles, clean CarFax with 2-owners & no accidents, the car lot is asking $6,900 with a 3-month powertrain warranty.

I wanted to know if these have transmission fluid dipsticks or are they sealed units?

Also, is there anything specific that I should look for? I've read about the rear sunshade defect and cat. converter issues, but I just want to make sure there aren't any other red flags that I should know about with these cars?

I'd be financing it with about $500 down or so, I know it's risky with the age and mileage. $6,900 sounds like a pretty good price for it though. ANY info from you guys would be appreciated... I've never owned a Benz, so I'm not really knowledgeable of these cars...

Its a good year for a good car. There is no transmission dipstick, but it should be serviced occasionally.

Here's a page I made about buying a used W208. I'd have it inspected, but I recommend every MB gets an inspection. The mileage may seem high, but an MB in good condition may run for another 300K or so. One thats been neglected may get expensive. Thats why I recommend an inspection.

First thing I would check is - does it have a Valeo radiator?

Look up archived posts here (using Search ^^^ and Valeo radiator as your key words) for many posts on this issue.

Didn't go through with it. Went to look at the car and saw that body work had been done on both rear quarter panels, plus almost everything in the interior was flimsy or falling apart. Didn't even ask to start it up, just left. Thanks for the responses anyway. If anyone here knows of any CLK's in or near the Michigan area, preferrably 2002 or newer because I'd need to finance, let me know. Acura CL's & Volvo C70 coupes are good too. Thanks.
