Does anyone know what the two thermo vacuum valves that are located by the idle air control unit on the top front of the engine do? I broke both of them cleaning in the area, they were super brittle I guess. Car seems to operate fine even though they are broken leaving open vacuum lines? I'll of course be looking for new ones. Performance had them for about $20.00 each. Does anyone know if that's a good price on these? Thanks Oh Yeah its an 86 560SL.

Still Curious

Doesn't anyone know what the two thermo vacuum valves actually do? They are the two small sensors by the Idle air unit with the two vacuum lines going to each one. Ike, Ears ?

I had to replace mine and replumb them, but I've got a California '78 450SL. I don't know if they do the same thing on your car.

One of them goes to the vacuum switchover valve on the passenger side fender and the other goes down to the air pump.

I know for sure that on 80 model that one is for the warm-up compensator. 50 deg. Cel. Not sure about the other. Your newer model may be totally different as was stated above.
