Loving the build wyzer. I think you made the right decision on sticking with the automatic. I have a 560SEC and a 300E, the W126 chassis feels very cruisey and wants to travel long distance at speed well suited for auto, my w124 is very nimble and the auto makes it feel sluggish, it’s crying out for a manual, I’ve got a Nissan CD00A 6 speed waiting to go in it.

What bags/struts did you end up using?

Big block had starter mounted on RHS, good chance a fundamental reason for this was to avoid the steering box on LHD cars the market for which the engine was developed for. So it may work fine on LHD W126 but probably not RHD. LS engine starter fouls RHD steering box on W126.
