Today I went at Autozone (who owns Alldata) and I found out that for my 1994 C220 Dexron III was required. So I would advise you to stop spending millions for the Mercedes benz ATF which will do the same thing as a Dexron III fluid.
It also said that I needed 7.3 quarts. So I bought 8 and I spent 28 dollars.
Plus 19.90 for the filter kit at discount auto parts. Autozone was 35.
THis one is going to be a cheap transmission fluid change. Less than $50.
Just my 0.2

Keep them honest!

 Its true, I had my transmission fully rebuilt with all new Mercedes parts, the shop used regular Dextron III. No issues, just another way to over charge for a regular non-dealar item.

Dario,
Just so that there is no misunderstanding, it is only the 5 speed 722-6 tranny that requires the synthetic Benz fluid.- Dexron III will kill the 5 speed over time.

Your tranny would be a 4 speed - totally different animal!!

I think the point is: if the ATF meets the MB specs for your transmission you can use it. I would still be cautious before using anything after-market just because AutoZone says it is okay. At least in my area, AZ does not see enough Mercedes to be considered experts.

I don't mind paying the extra... at least I know it is EXACTLY what is meant for my car... I mean, I drive a Mercedes... I'm not about to cut corners to save a buck... I still use the premium fuel that it calls for no matter how much it costs... thats the choice I made in buying Mercedes.

Verrry true 722.6 uses MB Fluid. Itll cost you an arm and a leg for 1L at 16.00! But its what it needs. I still use 91octane as well.

maxell666,
You need to do your research first. Dexron III is OK for your 4 speed tranny but not for the later 5 speed trannies (which need the MB expensive fluid).
