I just purchased the amg monoblock (non-chrome). I live in wisconsin, so it snows and there is salt on the road.

I was told that i shouldnt have the rims on for the winter. Would these conditions harm my rims??

You could live near the NJ shore...

There's not so much salt, but they use sand which pits your paint and does almost nothing for traction[!] (the director of system test, another Wisconsonite, loves to complain when they do this!).

I'd be more concerned about the width of the tires and the tires that you select. My AMG rims with SP9000 tires are very bad in the snow. My dealer wanted me to get Pirelli Ice and Snow tires for the same rims, but I have reservations about any snow tire that wide. I ended up getting some OEM ML430 rims with Dunlop WinterSport M2s and they're great!
