C36 0-60 timing

Hi
an un-experienced C36 driver, could easily get a 6.5 to 7 seconds, with best conditions. Factory tells 6.7 seconds and sometimes 6.0

C320 is fast too

but i don t think an unexperienced C320 driver can get a 6.5 secs 0-60Mph, not even a 7.5 timing, it is heavy!
no comparison in handling and acceleration

For some reason the earlier days, European number seems to be higher for some reason

Try compating US vs European number for C320 then you'll know what I meant ;)

That would be Specs for the 1997 C36 AMG NOT the 1995 AMG.

the 97 is pretty much the same except for the 5 speed automatic. Those cars perform almost the same. Like the a stock c43. Cant really outpeform a c36. why dont you go on bnzsport and ask people what their 0-60 times are. maybe then you'll believe me. [:)]

and it depends on if you know how to drive. if i had a ferrarri and let me grandmother drive it, 0-60 to her would take 20 secs at least

You're absolutely right

although given the same driver skill 97 C36 is faster than 95-96 C36 (I am not trying to put down 95 C36 by anymean)

WHY..???
let's face it, the car weighted the same.
97 has more hp and more torque sure its not by much.
However the gear ratio has changed..
95-96 C36 has 2.87 rear end. 4 speed
97 C36 has 3.07 rear end. 5 speed (closer gear ratio as well)

The increase in power and the closer rear diff-ratio make 97 faster.

According to Road & Track when 95 C36 tested @ 6.4 0-60mph (back issue I forgot which)

then later 97 C36 was tested with 97 E36 M3 4 door (back issue I don't recall which issue)
97 C36 0-60mph time is 5.9 sec
E36 M3-4 dr 0-60mph time is 5.6 if not 5.7 (manual)

My 95 C36 has the 276HP euro motor and no ASR. Best 0-100kph time I can get is around 7 to 7.2 secs, launching off-idle. I do my timing using my celphone's stopwatch function.

Launching at around 1200RPM, I can record times of 6.8-7.0 secs. Definitely not sub-6 times! I wonder how MB or AMG derived the 6.7 sec time stated on the AMG manual, off-idle or brake-torque launch?

Many of our fellow C36 owners state that the best times can be had by launching the C36 at converter stall RPM (around 3500 RPM) but I definitely DO NOT want to try that. The shock to the driveline will not make these expensive and hard-to-replace AMG parts happy!

The real forte of the C36 is in mid-range acceleration and top-end speed. I have had mine hit 250+ kph many times and the rush from 180 to 250 is really amazing...
