This has been covered in the past but I was asked the question but couldn't find the reference.

What's the difference between Authentic AMG Five Spoke Road Wheels and Made in Britain Pentas?

For reference, here ya' go.

How about 15" Penta's? What's odd is that they also came in two different designs, both with AMG part #'s. One set was 15x7 ET11 and the other 15x7 ET16, they look a good deal different. Can anyone shed light on this? I'm guessing the ET16 is the early wheel for the w123/w116. I've seen the part# listed for the w116.

Other than the fact that Penta brand wheels don't have the magical "AMG" letters and the fact that the 9x16 "Pentas" are ET11 as opposed to true AMG ET0, not much.

Thanks 48hp for the great post!
One question popped in mind: I have recently swapped my rotors and calipers on my gen 1 500 sec for gen 2 560's. Does this mean I couldn't fit gen 1 pentas? I definitely like the look of the gen 1 over the gen 2 pentas.

You may have to consider V2 pending on which front brake caliper you have. I do not recall off hand which Gen II caliper will allow for V1 wheels.

Cascade? You have a Gen II vehicle with Gen I wheels, which calipers do you have mounted up front?

Wow that's actually very cool. I've been lurking in the wheel and tyre thread but to see all of these lined up on display is awesome. Any good explanations on fittings based on model year/type? This would be the next step on my ride and man would those 10" look great. Also I haven't found many reliable dealers in my neck of the woods and all the "online" retailers do not really have that great of a selection.

8JX16 et11 and 9JX16 et0 will fit just about any R/C 107, W116, W123, W126.
10JX16 et-12.7 will fit the wide body or modified rear quarters vehicles only

good luck finding these with online retailers/dealers, they're most often hidden within the classifieds.

And the all elusive AMG 10"
at the rear [Et-12.7] with 16x9 [Et0]Gen 1 at the front

Oh yeah thats definately true, as the guard would just sit on the tyre.

Despite the sound advice...

A&L's300SL, thanks for the consideration.

All standard body W126 vehicles are the same when it comes to wheels, coupe or sedan, short wheel base or long. All W126 will require some wheel arch modification aka rolling when increasing wheel width to 8 inches or more or with less desirable offsets aka ET.

AMG produced the 8JX16 ET11 Five Spoke Road Wheels aka Pentas specifically for the R/C107, W123 and W126. Later AMG produced a second version of the 8J and 9J to accommodate larger brake calipers.

Each of the three model designations, 107, 123, 126 can also accommodate the AMG 9JX16 ET0 in the rear only with fender rolling.

Only the AMG wide body can accommodate the absurd negative offset of the 10JX16 ET-12.7mm in the rear and 9JX16 ET0 up front.

That said, what is the widest the W126 can accommodate in the rear? The AMG/OZ 10JX17 ET17. This three piece wheel will fit in the rear only with full fender "rolling" and only because that wheel offset is +17mm not -12.7mm.

I hope this clarifies the confusion. What is your paypal account email?

Never did hear from you...

In type of offer they are as mostly just "sell them to me", with about 6 "how about a swap" and a couple of, IMO, more acceptable serious offers [like yours]

I have had a few conversations [via phone or PM] with different forum [ozbenz and benzworld] members about the rims and what to do with them, with most recommending that I sort something out with you. Your WB project is certainly something that I'd like to see completed, especially with IMO the best rim for the job, so in the next couple of days I'll PM you and we will see what we can work out.
