Sounds like you had a good time! It had to be nice completing the run without any problems too. I could see a lot of neat, and diverse cars in your pics too. Having all of these cars participate has to make any get together more interesting. If there were a "most dedicated" award, my vote would have to go the couple in the Caterham.

The diversity of vehicles was very good and does add to the enjoyment. Fortunately the temperature was a little above 60 degrees F so the Caterham couple didn’t suffer to much!

60F here today, so started trying to get some of the herd running for summer. Both 300CD's needed jumped after setting since last Oct, but started right up. On a whim jumped in the 76 SLC and turned the key surprised the hell out of me the battery was not dead, and motor started after about 2 revolutions. Took it on about a 50 mile cruise, and took these Pics. about a mile from home. My house is just above the center/right of the hood in Pic #1 Does not show up vary good in Pic. Will not worry about starting the 280SL for another month.

Fantastic views bigsky - and the SLC looks great! A question for you, do you prime the oil pressure in either of your cars after they've sat for so long, or just start the engine?

I just start them up, some of our farm trucks will set for a year or two before being started.

I wouldn't think that's the generally accepted practice. Most of the wear on bearings and the like happen in the first second or two after startup, until the oil pressure comes fully up. It's infinitesimal but not insignificant. You probably won't notice any detrimental effects other than excessive wear before it's time, but that could be years in the future... or it could be tomorrow.
Your engine... your decision. :)

Never implied that just starting a motor that has been setting for a period of time without priming oil first was "right". Just stated how I do it. ;)

Thanks lads, cheers for your thoughts. My motor will have sat approx. 3-4 months when I'm finally ready to fire her up, which is why I was asking.

This was a quick trip to fill my growler. My wife and two dogs are happy, though it is in the mid 50'sF. This was my first drive without the hard top on the car. I did find a navy soft top in the well, but it seems to have shrunk a bit...

A beautiful spring day in Alabama. Just right for a drive. I did about a half hour run with no stops except for a couple of traffic lights. Very light traffic for a Sunday afternoon. People are obviously staying at home to avoid interpersonal contact.

You're lucky you can go out. The federal and state governments here have banned all non essential travel GRRRR:mad:
And they are policing it. Our police are state forces- no city police like you guys.

Stay safe down under! We are bracing for more restrictions. Some parts of the country are already there. The Countess and I have pretty much quarantined ourselves.

Other than short independent drives with no stops which are fairly harmless, I only leave the house occasionally for a brief supermarket run in off peak hours. As usual, no shortage of “honey do” projects around the house!

Flight to Italy scheduled for April 30, on indefinite hold. So far all friends and relatives there are safe.

Best guess - - July/August travel???

Same in Ireland, a beautiful spring weekend with great sunshine and nice breeze - but as of Friday midnight the country's in lockdown. So my R107 resto is on hold for now, all I did was take the CLK for a short spin as she's sitting in the garage for the last 6 weeks - started on the button.

Stay safe everyone!
