Today I took Elke to her first (foreign) pre 1987 sports car car show being held by the Methodist church in town. There were about 50 vehicles in attendance. The cars were mostly British. Two BMW 2002s showed up. Elke, and a red 1973 R107 were the only MBs there. Except for the two restored Unimogs! And both of them owned by the same guy!

It's not the HP, but the torque that moves things. My 2015 GL350 has 185HP, but 455 pound feet of torque. I can pull 7,500 pounds, and beat a LOT of "souped up" pickups off the line.

I have owned several diesels - still have one. The OM616 engine used in some Unimogs and W123 240Ds was just 71HP, but also only had about 100lb.ft of torque.

Doesn't a 2015 GL350 have a 240HP/455lb.ft. engine? We had a GLK250 (200/369) Bluetec, but got rid of it because of the complex and potentially troublesome emission system. Otherwise a great car.

Delilah out for a spin this morning. Nowhere special just need to get the juices flowing. I used to drive the cars to work often, now retired I just need to get them warmed up once in a while.

58° F this morning. Top down weather is coming to an end, at least with the wife in the car. I can also see that Delilah is in need of a new soft top. Hopefully this winters project.

I have never seen these marker glasses in transparent upfront, I only know them in full orange. Like them a lot.

Thanks, Bauk. They are Italian spec. lenses. Apparently, Italian law required clear directional signals years ago. Here is a link to an Italian firm that sells them. Mine were included with the euro headlights that I found on ebay.

I have also seen them completely clear.

Took The PIG for it's final drive of the season.

Put some Stabil in the tank and topped it up with Super at the local gas station.

I only filled the fuel tank twice this year. How pathetic is that.

In any event...the picture is of my closest fire hall....purely volunteer and 4 kms away.

To quote the fire chief: "We've never lost a foundation"

Yes, I recently done a complete brake job and replaced some of the front-end bushings and mounts and kept the parts :) Didn't keep the rotors though, to big and heavy.

You might have noticed no guides or tensioner rail there. My mechanic that replaced the chain and tensioner insisted there was no need for replacing the guides and rail, they were in good condition according to him. I doubt they have been changed since new, so I'll probably try to change them myself at some point to sleep better at night. Already got the OEM parts, so might as well do it.

This last weekend I took Delilah and the wife to Love Valley NC. The town where no cars are allowed. Well at least for the 1/4 mile length of main street. Not much happening in this town unless there is a rodeo going on or some other equestrian events. Very sad to see the row of boutiques that could not survive Covid. Fist picture is of Kitty's Place the local hotel.
