Re: It's not that bad...
My friend, it is impossible to compete against the quality and reliability of Japanese electronics. And these cars use increasingly complicated electronics. It is also time, MB dropped its alliance with Seimens VDO, and went to Japan for its parts. But as most people say, it takes MB 2-3 years to iron out the bugs. In todays world, especially since Lexus hits the target everytime, that cannot be an excuse, especially on cars that are $75k to $130k flagship sedans. Maybe I was extreme in saying the death of MB, but then again, never has ANY car company nose dived from 1st place to 25th place in a matter of 15 years. That is unbecoming of MB, and inexcusable.
Also you are correct, the M-class, mostly made in the USA had a massive share of problems that gave MB a bad wrap, but a well deserved one. If it has problems, don't sell it is my belief.
Yes, the auto magazines did not like the tank W-140, but I still think it was the heyday of MB. The handling is not so bad considering it is a boat, but can be impeoved quickly with 17 or 18-inch wheels, and fatter rubber. Remember the suspension is shared with the sporty SL and CL classes.
Here's in hopes of a MB recovery, Cheers!

Ok, I understand you saying the quality and reliability has gone down. But it isn't THAT bad. The M class was bad for a while when it came out. But my family had an 02 with absolutely No problems. Same goes for the S-class. Mercedes realized that the cars looked cheap, and updated the materials and reliability. The 03 S-class got its update and now nobody complains about the interioir quality. Apparently, it takes them along time to work out the kinks. And none of the car magazines, if you noticed, liked the tank very much. They didn't like the handling, which I must say from driving my mom's new CL500, Is much improved.
P.S. Mercedes WILL NOT use chrysler parts. htey will use mercedes parts.
