As a huge fan of the M120 motor and all its incarnations, I today took delivery of a gorgeous bright red SL600 Roadster, with panoramic roof.

That completes the collection: Sedan, Coupe, and now Roadster, all outfitted with the mystical M120, the naturally aspirated 12-cylinder motor.

Congratulations Stryker! Which one is your favorite? Where were you able to find the roadster? They're sort of rare aren't they?

Dr. Atlas,

That's hard to say. The sedan is my daily driver. The coupe is a weekend ride, and the roadster I don't know enough about yet to make a determination. It will probably be a fun summer car. I sought a lighter color interior for that purpose. The panoramic roof is a big plus in that it gives an open feel without being open.

Rarity is a given with the M120 motor. But like we all know, how the car is maintained is critical and this example was very well taken care of. I paid a premium for that condition but it's worth it.

The staggered wheels are a bonus. I didn't think I'd like the chrome, but they're not bad on the roadster. Much better than the 'raindrop' stock wheel that originally came on the car.

Everything works, I'm now getting the car brought to CPO standards. A few trim pieces need replacing, the brakes felt a bit off, some minor repairs here and there. I should definitely have it roadworthy in about a month or so, at which time the snow will likely be upon us, so it might be awhile before we can declare a road trip. But the prospects look great!

Congrats on your new aquisition Stryker!

That car is really a stunner!

Funny thing is that lately I seen two of those, in the exact same engine, colour code and interior selling locally. One in the classifieds, and one at a used Mercedes dealership close to my home. Both low milage under 100km's.. I think they were selling for around $32 000.. They dont come cheap, and yes VERY rare..

I do hope to ad a pristine R129 to my collection, hopefully in that "Seductive Red" paint.. Enjoy the new beast!!!!

All the best!

Congratulations on the 129 looks a nice worthwhile example.

At least you can take the odd bit from one of the 140's when you need them

Thanks, MafiaDon. Keep your powder dry and when the right one comes along, don't hesitate! But be picky!

Television, I'll be seeing you over at the R129 forum! Thanks for the comment!

I used to post there when I had one, I seldom get the chance to post any more in the 230 section. On my little forum in the UK I average 36 post a day and done some 86k post on that one alone. We have hardly any 140's in the UK so I am on a learning curve here and I have had some fantastic help all in great detail and I cannot thanks the members in this section enough.

Should you need in 129 print outs for many jobs I have a hundred or so already printed off.

Stryker.. Im just curious.. Does your wife get to drive any of your "Prize Collection Vehicles"?

I know I would not let my lady drive any of them, heck I would even buy her a lil BMW or C-Class just so she does not even ask lol

I'm lucky to have a very understanding wife who thinks my W140's are too big for her to drive. I haven't shown her the roadster yet, so I'm not sure what her reaction will be, but she's very happy to drive her not too shabby ML55.

ML55 not too shabby indeed. :D

I think when she sees the roadster it will be a different story lol. Ladies love the R129 SL. Especially in that colour, its really "Hollywood" :) Just one drive and she`ll be hooked lol..

I'm lucky still that my wife is less like Hollywood and more like Wasilla.

Stryker, thats a very beautiful SL.

Congrats on having a dream collection among mb enthusiasts.

Your wife is more "Wasilla"? Would that be wasilla alaska?

Thats where I grew up, I dont hear that name very often anymore.

oh and if you get a chance I'd love to see some more pictures of the SL. That panoramic option is awesome
