Here's a new intercooler that we installed today. Unfortunately because of the heavy rains and cool weather I haven't been able to push the limits of the intercooler.

I'll be testing it over the next 2 weeks so prices haven't been set but are expected to be $650-700. It works by keeping the air charge cooler/denser run after run. This keeps power constant from the first time you mash the pedal to the last. Do ever feel like the car feels quicker in the morning but in the afternoon, after you've done some quick sprints the car feels sluggish? That's because the factory IC gets heat soaked easily and can't cool the intake air as well. You end up losing about 10-15 HP. The larger intercooler helps you avoid this.

who are you developing these parts in conjuction with? I noticed you have a billet pully (smaller supercharger pulley?)
What is the best source for perf mods on this car? I have a 2003 c230k. please email me directly at [email protected] thanks!

The 2002 has a 2.3L motor, the 2003 has a 1.8L motor (sedan or coupe). The two have the same factory intercooler but is more stressed on the 1.8L because of the higher boost on that motor.

As far as I know, nobody has any performance kits other than the intercooler because it's the same. The new motor uses a single plane pulley and you would have to change a few pulleys to make it work. Also from what I've been told, the 1.8L runs about 11 PSI boost stock and the 2.3L runs 10 PSI with a pulley kit so you can see that the 1.8L would likely benefit from a better intercooler even more so than the 2.3L. This will become more apparent to you as summer approaches and you'll see that on a warm day and you are driving the car hard that you will begin to lose power. The car will seem quick early in the morning when it's cool and on your way home from work it will seem slugish.

I am familiar with what a larger intercooler will do for me. I am just bummed that I bought a car with so little potential. I've owned other supercharged and turboed cars before, and a chip would do wonders! But if the stock boost here is already 11 lbs, there's is not much more to gain via a chip :-( I'll probably just sell the car then.
