I personally prefer the old paper and print manuals as long as they're the factory issued shop manuals. I have a CD manual for my W123 and I don't like to have turn on my computer every time I need to look something up. Sure you can print the pages so you'll never get a book dirty but you need to research your repair thoroughly. The CD manual regularly refers you to other sections for other components that you may need to remove in the process. Also the CD pictures are not very good even if you have the best printer.
