Hi, I have a 1999 W210 and a 1997 W210 that I use as a donor, I wanted to change the TCM and I noticed that the part numbers are different.

Can I change the TCM?

Need full details. What W210? Engine size? Are the cars US specs?

Should be interchangeable.

Though I wouldn't be surprised if the TCM is not compatible. Does your 99 car have the facelift instrument cluster?

Just put the TCM in the car and report back.

The question is, why do you want to replace the TCM ? Is it defective ? And so, how did you confirm it ?

It has several problems.

In the mornings it sometimes takes a while to shift from second to third, after a few minutes of driving it shifts from second to third but never shifts from third to fourth, revs go up but it never shifts.

Sometimes when I put it in D it takes a few seconds to apply the same speed in reverse.

I recently scanned it and it didn't give any message.

It seems to be a problem with the transmission rather than the controller. You can replace the TCM but it may cause other issues due to adaptation issues.

Have a look at the attached. As you are more familiar with what is going on with your transmission, you can find some clues, and what needs to be checked.
