Hi everyone...

I know this is covered somewhere but I couldn't find the post. My 81 300D is almost there, but the big problem still is the transmission flare from 2 to 3, and the occasional slipping in 4. I can modulate the accelerator pedal and make it pretty smooth, but only if I don't want to accelerate very hard, which is tough most of the time in traffic.

I see old non-running 300Ds occasionally around here -- If I could pick one up cheap as a parts car, how difficult/expensive would it be for me to have my mechanic friend swap out the transmissions? I know I have a 100-series transmission in mine. Do the transmissions have to be identical? I don't know if I have a so-called Bowden cable or not.
