My mercedes dealer informed me that i need some suspension work ( i.e new shocks, struts..etc)

After giving me an outrageous estimate..and charging me $110 for rear brake hose replacement ( hose normally costs $14 dollars) ..i will look elsewhere..


Has any of you done any suspension work at a non dealer mechanic.....and would a regular mechanic be able to do the suspension work on the w140 without alot of trouble?

Any equipped garage can do it! its not at all difficult. Self-levelling models are substantially more costly to service.

If your car in not suffering any wobble, bounce or sag and you haven’t noticed suspension symptoms then don’t bother.

We have all been told by dealers at some stage that we need rotors and pads. Anyone with common sense can look and see that 9 times out of 10 they looking for extra work to bump your bill up and make you part with your hard earned cash!

Bottom line is that they are looking for work.
