Hey guys,

My front left spring snapped on the suspension. I can find the strut/shock but not the spring that goes with this. Is this a dealer specific item? Im hoping not. Im currently in school ,and the dealer is the last resort.
If I do have to go to the dealer... Do they sell just the spring or both and what am I looking for as far as price. If anyone is selling any oem parts they replaced that are just laying around please let me know. Ill buy it and pay for shipping. Id preffer gently used if possible.

Please help as my PA inspection relys on this.
Thanks
Rick

You didn't tell us year or body style, so we won't know exactly what you are looking for.

car-part.com (note, not plural!) lets you do a junkyard search. Springs don't break very often, they are a very safe part to buy used. You will find them in junkyards often sold as part of the whole strut assembly. Should be much less than $100 complete. Note that you will need an alignment after replacing front struts, unless MBs are really different than any other cars I have ever done struts on.

I have a 2001 c240 that I installed aftermarket struts and springs on, so I have all of the originals still. the original springs and struts have less than 20k miles on them. I'd be willing to part with a spring or two if you are having trouble finding them. I don't know what a reasonable price is, $40 + shipping?

IMO, you should not need to do an alignment after replacing a strut and/or spring. our cars basically have no adjustment for camber/caster.

Thanks for that, I'm used to cars where unbolting the strut loses the camber setting. Good to know if I need to do struts. The back shocks also have no adjustments related to them, right?
