I bought my '89 E190 2.6 (156k) recently and had the front end done (ball joint and bushings) from a suspension specialist. I had this done because the car was jerking side to side, most notibly when i accellerated (jerked to the right) then released the gas (came back to normal)...
but it also (bounced) side to side when driving at any speed including on the freeway, it feels like the rear end shifting sideways...
has anyone experienced this (i checked 50 pages of posts) and see others have had similar problems including wrong tires????
i am stumped and do non't want to spend another $1000 and still have it wobbleing around...please help, thanks

billytjr,

Check your Sub-Frame mounts on the rear suspension. There is a front and rear mount on both sides of the rear suspension. I went through this about a year ago and had to replace the front one on the right rear. The rubber was cracked/worn and caused play in the rear suspension... not to mention a WIERD ride.

Good Luck,

Dave

your rear suspension is made up of 5 links. you will find that some of these are worn out. more than likely it's the upper forward arms. ..
