I just hit 10,000 miles on my 55 the other day. Over the past week (weather was warm, so windows were down), I *think* I noticed my supercharger squeaking. The only reason I think it's the supercharger is my dad had the sl55 (he hated it) and his car would squeal when starting from a rest. He was told it was the supercharger squeaking when it engages. Has anyone else noticed the squeak with the '05 G55?

I am normally not a complainer but has anyone else noticed that MB's service is terrible??? I changed dealers because of poor service and I am having the same problem at the new dealer.

A high pitch whistle type noise is normal. The intensity will vary from car to car and in some cases less noticeable.

Regarding your dealer experience what's happening?

It's not the typical "whistle" sound that superchargers make when winding up. It is a chirp, which occurs only when the car is starting from a stop - the exhaust noise makes it hard to hear sometimes.

Without getting into any specifics, the dealer has ordered the same wrong part twice. After scheduling the appointment over a month in advance, the kept my car for two days fix the problem that they told me would take at most 4 hours. Around 5pm the second day, they called and told me that they ordered the wrong part again. All they need to do is check the box and they would have realized it was the wrong part again. Bottom line, they couldn't fix it again and now I have to schedule a third appointment. I also let a message for the manager to call me when the following day. He never did. It's frustrating.

Been there, totally understand! Before I would go back for the third appt. I would advise the GM of the circumstance and ask him to personally to deal with the parts and service depts. Well, that is if you actually get a call back from him!

How about the 3rd time it costs you (the dealer) money? If your vehicle is leased, figure out the per diem cost that you have been without the vehicle and then submit a bill for those days. I have done this with success. Actually, MB finally paid in cash for 5 months of vehicle payments over the 46 months of ownership of my now dead '02.

Maybe this can be of some help.

Thanks mb230s. I wasn't sure what that button did because the search function hasn't worked for me for some time now.

I bought the truck so I doubt they will give me anything other than a fantastic C280 to drive around in. No offense to anyone that has the C, but compared to the G it's awful. Haha... and after reading that supercharger post, it seems, as usual, MB can't fix it's problems. As much as I complain, I still love my G and I have no idea what else I would want to drive instead.

Thanks for all your help!

As there are so few G55K's out there in comparison to every other V8 Kompressor model it helps to search the other forms which relate to the same motor. I found the 'SC Chirp fix' on the W211 E55 form.

I dont have G55K but if the belt is slipping it will burnt marks on it. Also if it only does it at the sart on the SL i would say it could be the tirs, but considering the G is awd i dont think that is the case. Do they have blow off valves on the blower to let the excess boost vent when you let off gas? This would not have anything to do with the noise at the start but if you hear druning shifts and stuff it could be that.

Kerr, Do you read your posts prior to hitting submit?? What valid or realistic advise are you actually offering the author?

I have an SL55 and I am experiencing the same noise. Phoned the dealership's service department and they knew what it was immediately. It was explained that it is the clutch engaging on the supercharger and happens when the unit is cold or "on other occasions" It is bugging me and I am going to research this problem along with the high frequency sound that is coming from my fuel pump at idle ( in the rear of the car) both problems have been presented as being "normal"

I know I'm a little late on the rply here, but I noticed this thread and thought I'd share a little insight. I own and have owned several of the v8 Kompressor powered vehicles. The belt chirping is normal. This is by design as this functions as a simple clutch mechanism. In other words the belt is tensioned accordingly so that the slip is calculated and won;t grab until the engine reaches a certain RPM range (around 1800 I recall).
