If you find that thread on what he did to make that happen, it will take the dew off that rose.
Hello FATHERTIME,

Please search this sub-forum for M119 supercharger. I forgot the name of the former member from the UK. He had fitted on his R129 an ALBREX supercharger, the sad part, he got into an accident (a lot later) wherein the car was totaled but he took of the kit for resale.

I hope this helps

They are belt driven centrifugal superchargers, apart from one roots or screw, can’t tell which.
I like the idea of electrical centrifugal, but they need a separate 48v battery and belt driven alternator charger. I’ll wait until someone develops a more efficient 40W electrical vortex supercharger that can be run off the main electrical system. 😁

When a manufacturer such as Daimler supercharges or turbocharges an engine, they have a lot of extensive engineering throughout the internals just to accommodate the extra boost and heat. I remember just to add a turbocharger to the old OM 617 diesel , a lot of internals such as the pistons were re-engineered.

They also implemented an oil injection system to hit the bottom of the pistons to keep the heat down.

I think to do the job right it is a little more than trying to find a supercharger that will "fit".

Yes, this is why the proper conversions cost $$$$. Unless you’re prepared to run low boost, and for the DIYer this means having one eye on the boost gauge the other on the road to avoid meltdown 🤣, you will need low compression pistons, head work, remap.

It is really not that complicated. This engine was made to be boosted, it was used in the Sauber c9 and c11 race cars and boosted to well over 1000hp on a mostly stock engine. Mostly just to lower that high compression ratio. The guys at Kangaroo team brought one of their m119s to over 800hp on stock internals and have beaten the hell out of it on tracks day after day, redlining while drifting. Only head bolts had to be changed to thicker stronger ones.

But what about the transmission? It doesn't break? 722.6 on SL500

Their channel is always in German. The website can be translated though. They do a 6 liter conversion in addition to the supercharger. I think they also offer a 6 speed manual transmission conversion, I know the Slshop does offer a 6 speed manual conversion.

In all seriousness though what's the most economical way to supercharge/turbo charge the sl500 r129 m119 to get some more low/mid end torque? for under 10k preferably and maintaining daily driver reliability

There was a youtube video of a R129 M119 that had been turbocharged, however the turbo was set up at the rear underside of the car near the differential. Done in the USA.

Unfortunately i never downloaded it to my files.

I hope this helps.
