A Supercharged SLK has a supercharger(kompressor). It's a forced induction system kind of like a turbo but slightly different operation. It is used to force feed more air into the enginge to produce more power.

An SLK230 has a Supercharged 4 cyl engine

An SLK320 has a naturally aspirated(NO supercharger) 6 cyl engine

AN SLK32 has a Supercharged 6 cyl engine

Mash the accelerator and the SLK230 will push you back into the seat. The SLK32 will do the same, but with a lot more force. Do the same thing in third gear at 70 mph and you will see the real difference. I compared my SLK32 to a SLK350 this summer and noticed a big difference on the highway.

A SLK230 will not push you back that far. But my question is which is better Turbo-Charging or Super-Charging? I'm figuring it's not possible to have both on one engine. Why not? Which would you chose (if you didn't have a supercharged 32) super or turbo?

Turbo vs. Supercharge question has no definite answer. Each one works better in certain applications and worse in others.

why would you have both? Some semis have multiple turbos - a smaller one feeding a larger one. I mean, you could just get twin turbos, why would you want a supercharger and a turbo?

I personally like the off-the-line power of a supercharger, and love the whine but hate the lag of turbos.

Let's not get into an argument about which one is better...because the answer is neither.

You can have both, it's done fairly often....

Normally you would put the turbocharger in front of the belt driven supercharger.
The supercharger is a positve displacement type pump, while the turbo is a variable type of pump. The turbo can feed the super with no problem, and can control the ultimate manifold pressure with its waste gate.
Or you could just put a bigger supercharger on and be done with it...[:D]
As to one turbo feeding another turbo, I've never seen that on anything. I would think there would be problems with surging and pressure control. Typically if there are multipule turbo's they are single stage with one turbo feeding some cylinders and the other feeding the rest.

Ahhh thank for the answers. All this time i didn't know you could have a super and a turbo on the same engine. It's starting to make more sense now thank you.

Really? you like the blow-off valve? I think its much more of a turn on to be hearing the high-pitched whine of the SC coupled with the throaty sound of the engine hitting 4500rpm! Besides, the cops listen to the *PPPFFFSSSSTTTT* and pull thier asses over for being young punks.

You can put a blow off valve on a supercharged slk
