I have a 2003 ML 350. Push switch to rear sunroof starts to slide back then immediately stops. Moves about 1/4 inch. Will not open. Pushing switch forward closes sunroof. Sunroof will tilt up and down. Is this a motor problem or is something in the track? No problems with sunroof before.

There is a reset/re-sync procedure posted by 43sqd in the past, if I remember correctly. Please search this forum.

In case the re-sync doesn't work you may want to consider that one of the metal arms on the deflector has come off. (Was a common problem, MB made a repair kit for it.)

Boca, you mention a 'repair kit' I haven't searched on the 'sunroof' in a while, but need to buy the replacement parts. I last found the metal side-arms, plastic clips that screw it up in the 1st place, & wind deflector are all sold as 1 for around $85. is this the 'repair kit' you speak of, or is there a newer alternative available now? I've enclosed attachment for reference.

The .pdf above is not the correct permanent procedure. The correct procedure is remove wind deflector, discard, end of procedure. You will never have any more problems.

Probably. I'm wondering if it was actually termed a repair kit now.

not to take credit 43, I believe I saved on my hard drive but renamed as I have tons of files (for home & work) and wanted to make sure I knew what it was. Mike's instructions are probably the best permenant fix though!
