Sunroof problems

The sunroof is a very technical piece of equipment, and a bit of DIY investigation into your fault could cost you alot more bucks.

I would seriously recommend taking it to an MB specialist.

Dealer called. Told the wife 1465.00 to fix one broken track. She told them to fix it. I feel sick.

If it's not too late, the sunroof is not overly complicated. The motor is mounted in the trunk (and it can be opened/closed manually from the trunk) and moves the "hatch" with cables on the roof mounted track. Accessing the hatch requires removing the forward headliner (visor part)whereas the motor is behind the trunk paneling. The Mercedes chassis manual would be a good investment.

I called as soon as I got home. They said the mechanic was taking the car apart allready. I defenitly would have declined having the work done. Im not saying this is allways the case but I can see how a good service advisor can take advantage of a woman. I instructed my wife that 2-3 hundred dollars would be reasonable to fix it otherwise I would just shut it and leave it alone. They convinced her that this was her only option. I am not happy with Tom Masano in Reading Pa.
