Hi all,

I recently fixed a large amount of rust around the sunroof in my '99 E270 and I would like to check the dimensions of the cutout before going any further. Could I ask that someone please nip out to theirs and take a few measurements (in millimeters) for me? I have searched everywhere both online and for a similar car locally to no avail.

The measurements I need are as in the attached image (the sunroof is not square), from the innermost part of the metal lip to metal lip.

I would be most grateful to anyone who can help.
Thank you in advance.

The best way to check and test would be to test fit the glass, mo measuring mistakes that way.
Except there is obviously a gap between the glass and the metal of the cutout to accommodate the rubber seal. It's this - the glass plus seal gap that I would like to know the measurements of please.

Hi,

Many, many, thanks for taking the time to measure and I apologise for not replying sooner, but I have only just had the sunroof refitted and the roof painted as the weather is only now starting to turn here to the point where it needed doing.

Curiously my measurements were completely different to both here, though a few weeks ago I did accidentally find another car here with a sunroof when parking up a side-street I wouldn't normally venture to, so I took the opportunity to measure just the gap between the sunroof edge and the metal. I was carrying around a cloth measure in the hope of seeing one the entire summer without luck until spotting this one.

The gap between extreme inner edge of the metal and extreme roof edge (as both are slightly rounded) is all that was needed to get the fit perfect. They are as follows should anyone else need them.

Front gap: 3mm
Others: 5mm

Thanks again Torkil and Raymond.
