Anyone knows what is causing this?
Maybe speed or car washing?

Seems to be a common problem. Nothing to do with speed. Maybe washing with chemicals is a possibility.
I use a premium wash and wax but have no issues with ours. I do keep an eye on it for any flaking.
If ours starts I will just 600g sand it and 2pak clear coat it.

Does anybody know what material this panel is made from? I have a ‘17 C 43 with no damage. This panel is not steel of any kind — a magnet won’t attach to it. We need to know the material before we can determine the cause — and the cure.

I checked this black material further, and found that the black area behind the pano roof (when closed) and the black posts between front and back doors at the windows also will not attract a magnet. I suspect that the black substance covering these areas are black or black thick plastic surfaced areas. If so, replacements should be available from a dealer. Whether the part would be costly or not, I don’t know. Same as to whether it is covered by warranty. I hope it.
