my 1983 300se diesel has suddenly decreased in mpg. Runs fine, just using way more fuel. Where should I start to solve this problem. It is my daily driver.decreased

We just entered winter temperatures. How it is in your area?
Than replacing filters whenever you experience problems, is always a good start.

You don't say how big the difference is. It is true that oil and Diesel fuel thicken. If the difference is suddenly large, like 10% or more, start looking for a fuel leak.

You won’t get the same miles per gallon out of winter diesel fuel.
Winter temps takes more heat energy away from combustion making less power available at the wheels.
