Subwoofer installation question

2059 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ttaleric
Anyone with a Year 2000 ML-320 with the Bose system that had installed a sub or knows how to?; like JL's or other Subs that require the RCA converter things? I went to many different shops and they are giving me all kinds of answers from, telling me that its fiber optic, and like they can't do it, and all......*sigh*

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!!

Yup! Your BOSE system has fiber optic cables so you CANT tap into the back of your NAV unit. This is what you do....

Go buy a signal converter from circuit city. It should only be less than 20 bucks. Tap into your BOSE sub's signal. The Factory Bose Sub is located under the drivers seat. Tap into that sub using the converter. Splice the positive and negative wires on the converter to the according wires on the sub.....

THEN...

Your converter will have a ground wire. I honestly dont know why it has a ground because you DO NOT have to ground the Converter. It's useless and will do nothing....

FINALLY....

Plug RCA wires into your converter, and run them all the way to the back where your amp is, and plug the RCA wires into your AMP!!! YOU are now DONE!!! Well.... kinda..... Do you have your Power wire and remote wire and ground wires all ran to the Amp yet???

BY THE WAY......

Your converter will have very 2 small holes on the bottom which control the volume or it's intensity. I usually just take a small flat head screwdriver and twist both of them to MAX.... Then you can adjust levels accordingly on your Amp later if it is too loud.

ONE LAST THING....

I went to 3 Best Buys, and they refused to touch my Truck. Circuit City refused to touch it as well. They were even too scared to pull the door panels off and change the door speakers! They said the doors airbags may burst out!!! This site will tell you everything you need to know about how to change your stereo. Just keep serching, or PM me sometime if you get stuck and I will help you out. I can install almost anything.....
