When I go to turn off the ignition on my '87 300SDL, there is a bit of a "shudder" just before the car shuts down. This shudder doesn't last long and happens very quickly. This happens also with the auto in motion or at rest at low to mid throttle, and just chopping the throttle will produce the same effect. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like engine mounts, check see if they have split or gone soft. They can can sometimes come adrift completely which allows excessive engine movement, if you change them I would do the transmission mount at the same time, changing all helps to keep the prop shaft in correct alignment.
