Has anyone noticed a large popping sound when making slow sharp turns in a CLK 500? I don't know much about parts, but it's almost as if it sounds like something is popping into/out of place in the front axel. Obviously, I have no clue what it is, but thought someone on here could help!

I had a similar noise a while back , it was my wheel bearing. Yours could be a wheel bearing too, or a balljoint, steering shock.....there arent axles in the front of these cars

A good independent shop w/benz experience should be able to pinpoint that noise for you

Whats your mileage? And have you checked the dipstick in the Steering oil reservoir.

If you do a 'search' here, you will find this topic has come up before.

This may sound odd, but take a look if anything has gotten itself wrapped around your stering linkage. Remove the panel beneath the dash and above your pedals and take a look. I had that problem and some cables had snagged themselves around the steering mechanism.
