Car is showing a strange misfire and secondary air injection fault. It is only present when the car is cold/colder (not all the way up to normal operating temp). The engine begins to shake (on brand new mounts) and it wants to stall (which causes CEL). It becomes worse when the engine is under a load (A/C compressor comes on) I hooked it up to my friend's star and I ran though all the tests I could think of. It only came back with a misfire in cylinder 1 and a secondary air injection fault. No leaks were found in any of the secondary air injection tubes. The air pump responded to the star and it worked fine. There isn't a test on the star for the EGR, so I couldn't rule that out. No test for cylinder 1 coil or spark plug on star either, so I don't know if those are the issue. This doesn't happen every day and it almost never happens after the car has been driving to full operating temp.

Is this a moisture? Any ideas?

fix the #1 misfire before anything else, replace your spark plugs, possibly the coil, then check the wiring.

once the misfire is fixed, you can go from there...

BTW, the separate cylender tests are done via the fuel injectors test, you can turn them off one by one.

I have been trying to isolate the problem and I've got it down to moisture. After it rains on the car, it has this problem. If the nighttime humidity is high and the car is outside, then the car will have problems the next day.

Any ideas? CEL came back on and now there is only a secondary air injection fault. No misfire.

I had a misfire on coil #7, replaced the coil and it's been fine ever since! Coils will degrade over time/ mileage. $60 a pop.

Did you have a secondary air injection fault also?

I can't figure out how or why humidity would be getting into the system and causing the problem. I've checked just about all of the air injection hoses and I can't find an leaks.

Think this is just a misfire that the computer thinks is a secondary air injection fault?
