Last night I had my fault codes read using the 38 pin connector under the hood, not the connector under the dash. I found it pretty interesting that my OBDII unit that connects under the dash would not test and read about 90% of the systems that the under the hood connector could.
Anyway, my car was running when the codes were read and when we were finished, I just drove off. I add this information because I'm not sure if what happened with my dash indicators was a function of this or not. I had two odd messages/warnings show up on my instrument cluster display.
1. Two small overlapping squares appeared just to the right of the odometer reading. I went through my owner's manual, but could find no indication of what they meant. I seem to recall seeing them once before, but don't recall what they mean.
2. When I turned the car off, the letters BAS appeared nice and big right where the odometer reading usually is.
Both of the above indicators disappeared when I restarted the car and they never came back on. There was no indication of any problems with the operation or drivability of the car during any of this. Anyone with information on what these indicators mean?
Thanks.
