still have code 16 IDLE SPEED INFO? m104 1990 300ce dose any one know about this?
No, the car runs good Jayare seams a little sluggish of the start, but it does start in 2nd and I live at 6000' . The real Q. is witch one won't let the car run at all, the rear or the front? I read some where that 1 of the 2 crank PS won't let the car run at all? If I know witch on is just setting the code than I can replace that one first. Then if I still have a code I'll replace the other one. Thanks, SabertDiid you end up replacing the front and rear crank position sensors yet???
Yes all clean..I think I need to get a front crank position sensor, cap, rotor, fuel accumulator, and wires next.I've been following this but apparently missed that your problem is with the 95' 320 and not the 90' 300CE. My chart is for 90-93' 2.6 and 3.0 motors. I'm guessing you've already eliminated a possible wiring problem to the ETA and have cleaned it thoroughly to eliminate any sticky/binding problem within the throttle bore.
I ordered one from Fletcher Jones ONT. yesterday should get it today. Hopefully this will fix code 16 $160.00 with wholesale discount and no tax P.S. I think the old one is ECO wire as it is very degraded when I was looking close at it. This is not regular single wires its more like cable TV wire or amp wire (thin wire in the middle with a wrap of wire on the outside). The CPS on the belllhousing is the critical one. Without, engine will not start.
I did it and code 16 came back after a day 1/2I ordered one from Fletcher Jones ONT. yesterday should get it today. Hopefully this will fix code 16 $160.00 with wholesale discount and no tax P.S. Yes on the motor, What is that 3 prong plug rite across from the cps on the EZL unit and what does EZL stand for?Darned,
I was really hoping the bad wiring on the CPS would cure your code16.
Moving forward, it's time to look a little harder at your EZL unit.
Yours is a CIS-E M104, correct???
I THINK I finally figured out what was wrong with my car! Code 16 seems to be caused by bad wires to the ignition control unit. I checked all the wires and the 3 prong socket to the EZL unit was bad (just the outside plastic tubing) and the wires were shorting out on the intake and on each other. So I used a combination of shrink wrap and flex tubing to fix it. I would have been happy to replace the whole wire but it goes directly into the wiring harness. this is a weird wire...it has a center wire with a wire wrap then another sheath x2 and they split into two different directions under the intake. To clean up this mess I had to split them then shrink wrap them. I zip tied them and looked for other bad wires and none were found. I don't know why this was the only bad wire as mine is a 90 300ce and should not be ECO wire(but it sure looked like it) Along with a new cap, rotor, and coil she should run good now!EZL = Ignition Control Unit
