CLS noob here, so prepared to be flamed ;-) but has anyone fitted the sedan-style stick-up hood emblem? Have been loving 'following it' in my E-class
Any pics if you have?
Cheers

We were all NOOBs at some point, so no flamming.

The "Stick-up hood badge" is used on sedans. MB reserves the star emblem for the grille only for coupes. And seeing that MB calls this a 4-door coupe, the start is in the grille.

I don't know about you, but there is no way I want to put the "Stick-up hood badge". I love the emblem in my grille.

Is there actually a stick-up that will attach to the hood without modification to either?

Not as far as I know - they have the spring mount which sticks through the panel

The "stick up" emblems are not just for sedans. For example the E-Class sedan has the flat emblem. As far as I can tell , there is no rhyme or reason for which model gets which emblem. As for retro-fitting one to the other, good luck , the mounts are way different.

Yeh its a bit scary drilling a big hole in the bonnet (hood). I'll have a think about it. It would be reversible though at least. I'll have a think. Got a spare emblem anyway.

I have an '07 CLS 550, my hood has the flat badge like this one...

http://www.mbworld.org/forums/members/art-by-art-albums-2007-cls550-amg-style-3-bar-grille-brabus-style-lip-spoiler-picture9736-2007-cls550-amg-style-3-bar-grille-55tech-via-ebay-racemesh-lower-front-grille-chrome-stock-wheels-indents-blacked-out.jpg

Was this just for the 2007 model? Or does it possibly denote something that's maybe different about this CLS vs others? Kind of curious, never really though about it. I noticed that some CLS' don't have this style badge on the hood. Hmm, curiousss :)

Your car? Niiice!

My badge is the same, so no I don't think yours is any different.

I dont think that the coupe/wagon format defines the badge (the GL has flat badge for instance) so the basic distinction seems to be: large grille star/flat badge, no grille star/stick-up. It just seems to be in the gift of the MB designers which they go for.

No that CLS isn't mine although it looks very similar. I do like the little hood badge though, it's like the "cherry on top" lol.
