Although it's been covered endlessly on other threads (141 pages of replys on custom thread) I have a stereo question. common to lots of UK and Irish cars, we don't seem to get the becker system, we get Blaupunkt instead. I have my eye on this Nakamichi MB-X BrandNew AM/FM 6 Disc CD Player Changer - eBay (item 130423163763 end time Dec-18-10 17:13:27 PST) Will have to paint pano first etc. I pulled my dealer fitted system (passedena DJ) today i found some extra plugs. Anyone got any ideas what they might be?

Not sure, we never had the bose systems, think the amp is in the headunit. I was wondering whether the unused plug was for the dash tweeters

And I was wondering if the unused plug was the wiring for an amplifier - I've not been in the dash, so I don't know - but a thought - I doubt that the wiring harness would be diffenent regardless that bose was used in one part of the world and blaupunkt was used in another.

part of your harness was wrapped in such a way may be the previous owner had put in different head units at one time ? And instead of cutting off the old plugs, he just patched in extra plugs ?

Tommyboy,
I have those sockets too. My dash tweers don't work either.
The right door woofer has started to go on and off
I have had a JVC head unit and bose speakers and a seimens amp I think??

Passenger side upwards part of foot rest - under there beneath a plastic covering removeable by two bolts - I think I have found my amp- it seems to have sockets leading left and right to the speakers I think - It is seimens brand about the size of a short novel - but i have not confirmed what it is yet so i wont go messing with it yet.

If you find how to get the tweeters on let me know please.
If you learn anything let me know.

Thanks
DArragh.

The speakers in the dash are for built in cell phone I beleive...could depend on year though...

Anybody looking for a complete bose system? Im getting ready to take out of my 97SL. Very good condition, the only problem is one door speaker starting to go...and a couple buttons on the headunit are loose, but not missing. I have a stock alpine cd changer also but no magazine. Accepting best offer for all or parts...

Tommyboy40 the Nakamichi looks like a very fine unit as they usually are high end pieces of kit but it doesn't have MP3 capabilities or bluetooth so for me is a no no.

Cheers.

Mine was indeed connected to the boot but i had to rewire everything when i installed new speakers because i had the Bose system including the awful amplifier.
Consider yourself lucky that you don't have that.

I have a fantastic old crossover and amps to use, Pioneer from the eighties when they made quality car audio. The crossover has 3 outputs for low, mid and high amps and you can control the frequency range and volume of each, I'm hoping to put it in the spectacle case, it should recess nicely and take up 2/3 of the space leaving room for glasses. The Blaupunkt has a DIN plug to the boot which I can use for signal control. Painting pano takes all precedence right now.
