Does anyone know info on the 2002 CLK430 stereo. I am looking to replace it but the installer said something about a data bus. Can't I just switch out the head unit? Or is it more complex? Any info would be very helpful.

You already got a '2002 clk 430'?. If it fiber optic cable then you can just forget about replacing the head unit because it will mess up the factory system.

Re: Re: Stereo Replacement

Yes I just got the 2002 2 days ago...I am not sure it is fiber optic though, I was just guessing.

It can be done, but...

you will loose the steering wheel controls and the radio display in the instrument cluster. You will also have to add a dash board light wire and ignition line. The factory phone and CD changer wont work either anymore.

Hi,

it ist very difficult to chage your Stereo if you have the Stereo included with NAVIGATION. Then you loose the functions HORST told you 7/26/2001.
But you loose also your clock in your display and you can not adjust your clock. I had these problems in a CLK 430 Convertible. So the best is to have your Mercedes Stereo still in your car.

Best regards - manfred

http://www.clk-club.com
