WE have a 2014 220 CDI CLA thats feels like it floats when we are driving it. It sort of a pain to drive because it feels like it wants to go where it feels like not where it should, a real spooky feeling when driving it. Has anyone else had this problem??

I have now put on about 1200 miles on my 2014 CLA250 and have not experienced any odd steering behaviors. The car feels very well planted at high speed and the steering centering, boost, ratio changes all seem appropriate in all driving conditions.

However, the one steering characteristic I have yet to get used to is the fact that the steering (and boost) remain active when the engine is automatically shutdown by the ECO mode at longer stops. It just feels a bit odd to have the wheel respond to your touch when you would oridinarily expect it to be "frozen" due to a lack of engine provided hydraulic steering boost.

Perhaps you should go ahead and report your concerns to your MB dealership as there could be a problem your software/logic and adaptive/learning modes in the electronic steering.

It's probably electric assist (not hydraulic)as I would expect like many newer cars, including Lexus ISx50, Mazda CX-5, Porsche 911, etc.

You are correct, its the electro-mechanical steering.

As for the OPs original question. I have 2600 miles on my CLA. Steering has been solid the whole time. If your car feels like its floating, I think you should have it checked.
