While it seems unlikely that it is possible, I thought I would ask...

Is it possible to retrofit a steering wheel with audio controls to a 2002 ML 320 that had no steering wheel controls?

I am about to purchase an after market head unit for my car (AVIC 120) and there are options from PAC-Audio that allow you to program steering wheel buttons for the new head unit. I would not need it to control my existing MCS unit, I just need to know if it is possible to wire it in.

As far as I know there is no ML steering wheel with those features. And if there was, all the audio options would have to run through the clocksping (just like the horn does).

So, even if you found a M/B steering wheel with the audio features, you would need the accompanying air bag and clockspring and then that wheel would have to be able to properly mount on the existing M/L steering shaft.

In essence the answer to your question would be NO.
