My 97 230K with 52k has been lying up for 3 months in the garage whilst we've been abroad. The steering has now developed a squeaky (more grunty) type of sound. It's almost like a "rusty" type sound. I dont know if I heard it before we went away. Before I get ripped off, any initial diagnosis? suggestions..help? [:0]

Yeah if it's kind of a squealing noise, then almost always the power steering fluid. Just fill it up, but you have to let the engine get warm first, pour some in, turn the wheel a bit, let it sit there, then fill it up a little more until it's full.

I say - "flush it" - take as much out as you can with turkey buster - pour new one, turn steering wheel completely from left to right, repeat suction\refill.
