Has anyone replaced their steering damper? Is a lift absolutely necessary?

Thanks

Hey Joseph, how many miles do you have on your car? I'm at 62k on mine and the steering feels "vague" and follows the ruts in the road pretty bad. Are these the symptoms you are having? Thinking about doing mine soon...

You can tell if it's bad if you pull it out. As stated above, It's a simple job.

Once you get it out, Move it to any position and then see if if there is any play (in and out ) When i took mine out, I could move it in and out about 3 inches. You will notice the difference with a new one. There only about $40.00.

Good Luck

I had this problem and had the wheels aligned twice by different Tyre suppliers and other stuff replaced. I eventually took it to a suspension specialist who informed me the problem was bad alignment. MBs are difficult to get right and need to be done by someone who knows these cars. The stealers or a Suspension pro usually do the best job, even if it costs a little more.

Finished mine today. Some one said WOW after replacing theirs, and I agree, there is a definite smoothness, and accuracy with the steering, without the drifting. It rides as a Mercedes should.

Thanks for all your support!
