I've just adjusted the steering play on my 1985 W123 230E (196k km) as follows: counter-clockwise until I hit resistance, then in by 4 flats. Could I go tighter than this? The steering was in the straight-ahead position while tightening the adjuster. This was the first steering box I came across where one turns the adjuster OUT (my other car is a '95 BMW E34 540i).

Does the MB box also have a centre highspot which is best adjusted by tightening the adjuster enough after turning the steering wheel one turn from centre (as when adjusting a BMW ZF box) to feel slight resistance when turning back through the straight-ahead position?

Thanks.
