Steering Angle Sensor Issue

Hello, new to the forums here, surfing the 'net to see if I can find a resolution to my issue:

1999 E320 4Matic sedan
BAS, ABS and ESP lights are on. Errors for all three occur upon startup of the car and the lights remain on while driving.

Friend has a Mercedes "hand held tester" and scanned the car for me. The tester said there is no signal from the steering angle sensor. I bought a new one from my dealer and installed it. He cleared the codes, but they persist, and there's no signal from it in the "actual values" section of the scanner.

Is this likely a matter of a bad wire somewhere? Could there be an issue with a module or some other part of the system? My buddy isn't that familiar with the E320s so he wasn't much help beyond having the scanner (which was a BIG help, of course!)

Thank you,

Ralph

I don't recall the code in his tester, but it clearly said "steering angle sensor" on the little LCD screen, nothing to with the brakes. I've read about the brake light switch supposedly being a cure-all for many issues, but I didn't see anything about this related to it. Coudl that be part of the problem?

Thank you!

Have you checked the fuse for the steering angle sensor ? It is under the rear seat Fuse 11 I believe.
