Hi,

I currently drive a 2000 slk. I have always had a benz and have never thought of any other car really. Until the other day. A friend of mine has bought a BMW Z4 3.0 which i drove the other day. I think i might have fallen in love with it.lol. It is a absolutely amazing car and i was left wanting one. I still love my benz, but am seriously considering the BMW. What benz would be equal to the 3.0 Z4?

I dont think Benz make a car as useless as a Z4. Someone of my height can barely squeeze into one. Perhaps a SMART.

Have you ever considered elbow room ?

I test drove the Z4 along with a 350Z roadster after I test drove the new SLK350. Neither car could compare to the 350, period. I went back to Benz and gave them my money which was ~ $10K more than the Z4. BMW's drive nice and are ergonomically near perfect, but I recommend a test drive and I'm almost certain you'll se it as I did. Also, the 350 with AMG package looks much sportier and aggressive than either of the cars mentioned here. The Z4 still reminds me of a glorified Miata IMO.

Luckily enough, I had a chance to test drive new SLK 350 through local Mercedes-Benz dealership (I cut the post from “Rolling Stone magazine and sent it to Mercedes-Benz. And I got a test drive opportunity and promotional DVD title).

Anyhow, the car is state of the art. It brakes and corners exactly I intended to. In addition, its interior layout is very stylish as well as elegance (feels like Bang & Olufsen products)

There is no doubt about it that BMW is making nice vehicles also, especially in terms of its performance. However, even lots of BMW enthusiasts do not like new Z4 due to its unique styling.
Personally, I prefer Z3 over Z4.

Well, what amazed you? Handling, engine, street reaction? Toys? My generall assessment of the two brands is that you are more likely to be waved at in the Merc and more likely to be pulled over or cussed at in the BMW.

The equivalent MB is the new manual SLK 350. Personally, in London, I rate the entire SLK range for the hard-top ability - I've had enough damage to steel-topped regular cars on London streets as it is: a rag-top from ANY manufacturer would make me far too nervous to enjoy it.

By the way - I have a slightly privileged parking setup. £1200 per annum or thereabouts for a space inside the congestion charging zone with 24 hour guard... interested? [:D]
