Discussion Starter #1
When I turn the key, the flywheel spins and I hear a click but the engine will not turn over. I suspect that the starter motor or starter solenoid may need to be changed. Where is the starter motor located on the mercedes 190E?

Whether on the 2.3 or 2.6, the starter is at the driver's side rear of the motor. It is a metal cylinder (the size of a small coffee can). You can see it if you crawl down behind the left front tire and look past the inner tire well and up. Use only an original equipment replacement.

Oh yes. The bolts have to be removed only from the bottom of the car.

There is a detailed replacement process which involves removing the driver's side engine mounting strut prior to removing the starter. However, on my 2.3, I was able to simply maneuver the starter away and down without removing the mount/strut.
