Hope someone out ther can help. Im trying to replace my steering colum combination switch in my 96 E320. In researching the stickies and using my AllData info to disable the SRS system so I can pull the steering wheel I need to un plug connector X29/9 located in the passenger footwell. Thye only thing is that there are about 100 connectors in the pass footwell and none look like the pic from AllData. Can anyone supply additional info or tell me can I safely pull the steering wheel and remove the air bag with just the battery disconnected?

You can just remove the 2 screws for the air bag and unplug it, then remove the 10mm hex bolt for the steering wheel and replace the combination switch.

Now all is fine but do not turn the ignition on with the air bag unplugged or you will have to get the car on STAR to remove the SRS warning lamp.

Place the air bag face up out of the sun, some remove the battery some do not.

Its always safe if you do, but wait 15 mins before you remove the airbag.
