My 1997 SL320 w/70k miles.
Back in April my nephew borrowed my car and was in an accident where he crunched my front end. And to me, the car hasn't felt right since. Kinda sluggish. And non-responsive in both the engine and the transmission. It also felt like there were jumps in power as you moved up the RPM, instead of a steady increase, like in my friend's '96. And it's felt under-powered. Almost like I was driving in mud.
Today I'm stopped at a red light and the car does one of those *sputters* things like the engine is gonna die for 1/2 a second, and the SRS light comes on for like 1-2 seconds. Then, about 15-20 seconds later, the same thing: Sputter followed by SRS light. The only light that came on is the SRS. And the car never stalled. AND the car drives SOOOOOOOOO much better. It's responsive again. The engine pulls proper. It's FUN again!
So, any ideas what happened? I'm thinking maybe even though the airbags never went off and the SRS light never came on, maybe the accident caused the car to throw a code? And for some reason it finally cleared?
