After installing a wood steering wheel on my '99 clk the SRS light has been lit, indicating that the airbag is disabled. Does anyone know why and how I can fix this?

I installed the steering wheel myself: disconnected the battery, removed and disconnected the airbag, removed the stock steering wheel, then installed the new one and hooked up the the airbag as it had been. I had to move the car while the airbag was disconnected though, so I did reconnect the battery briefly while the airbag was disabled. I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Please let me know why/how I can fix this. Thanks.

When you started the car without the air bag connected, you set a fault code in the SRS control module. As far as I know, you need to get SRS codes cleared by the dealer (or someone else with the proper diagnostic tool).
