Hi all, My SRS light came on today. I hooked up my scanner and it gave me this information:

The resistance value in ignition circuit containing component R12/R (drivers side air bag ignition squib) is to high.

I attempted to clear the code, the ABS light went off, but in a second or two and came back on. I understand what the ignition squib is and does, but I have no idea where it is and I know these are very sensitive. I also know the air bag is in the side of the seat facing the door.

Has anyone had this issue?

I believe have discovered what may have caused this. From reading in this forum I see that some owners have had this issue when their top is down and the vehicle is setting in the sun, especially if the driver's seat back is moved forward to access the rear seat. Mine was in the sun all afternoon like that. The light came on when I got in and started it up. I will take a look at the squib wiring harness tomorrow.

Yes, that's exactly the issue. I fixed mine by removing all the trim on the driver's seat and working the airbag wire around to gain some slack.

Is there anything unusual about removing the seat panel?
Removing the back of the seat panel is a no-brainer. Removed the panel and released the tension on the wire harness going to the airbag, erased the fault code and everything is back to normal. What I am wondering is, since this seems to be an issue, how many owners have taken it to the dealer and paid big bucks to have the squib replaced and the ABS light turned off when it was only a to tight wire harness!

I had to remove the plastic paneling on the side of my seat to get enough slack starting at the seat controller. I made sure there was no tension on the wire at all
